A Range Forest Officer was arrested for accepting a ceiling fan worth Rs.31,680/= as a bribe

The Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption have arrested a Range Forest Officer who was assigned to the Department of Forest Conservation on an allegation of soliciting and accepting a KDK ceiling fan worth Rs.31,680/= as a bribe on 23.12.2022 in accordance with a complaint received by the Bribery Commission.

The suspect was thus arrested at the office of the Timber Checking Station, Pasyala when he hadsolicited and accepted a KDK ceiling fan worth Rs.31,680/= as a bribe to prevent taking legal actions after detaining the lorry provided by the complainant to transport timber due to lack of properly issued permit for the transportation of teak logs and to release the lorry subsequent to receipt of the proper approval, and to allow hazzle-free transportation of timber on behalf of the complainant’s lorries in future
