The Investigation Officers of CIABOC have arrested a Beat Forest Officer serves at Thanamalwila Range, Kataragama area of the Department of Forest Conservation on an alleged acceptance of a bribe of Rs. 185,000/- on 15.02.2023 in accordance with a complaint received to CIABOC.
The suspect has solicited a bribe of Rs.200,000/- and accepted 15,000/- at the first instance to submit a report to the Police that the land adjacent complainant’s residing land belongs to the Department of Forest Conservation and to allow the complainant to reside in the said land. Later the suspect was arrested when soliciting and accepting the remaining amount of Rs.185,000/- on the road in front of complainant’s house. (Lunugamwehera-Kataragama - Adi 100 road).
