A Forest Beat Officer was arrested on alleged soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000/=

The Investigation Officers of CIABOC have arrested a Forest Beat Officer who serves at Talawa Division for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000/- on 23.06.2022 in accordance with a complaint received by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The above suspect was thus arrested when he had solicited and accepted the said bribe at the Bus Stop in Eppawala junction in order to provide permits to transport Teak wood which were cut down previously in four instances and to provide the permit for timber transport  in future for the remaining Teak wood and to carry out the necessary actions regarding this matter expeditiously.
