The Manager at Batticaloa Depot was arrested on accepting a bribe of Rs.75,000/=

The Investigation Officers of CIABOC have arrested the Manager at Batticaloa Depot of Sri Lanka Transport Board on alleged soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 75,000/= on 28.07.2022 in accordance with a complaint received by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The complainant’s brother owns 04 buses running from Batticaloa to Colombo and the said complainant had taken necessary steps to obtain diesel from Batticaloa Depot of Sri Lanka Transport Board. In this setting, the suspect had accepted a bribe of Rs.75,000/= on several occasions for about a month to get the necessary tasks done through the respective officers and to grant permission to issue fuel. The suspect was thus arrested in the manager’s office
room at the Batticaloa Depot of Sri Lanka Transport Board while soliciting and accepting the bribe of Rs.75,000/= to fulfill the aforementioned tasks and to issue fuel.
