Legal action was instituted against former Minister of Media and Health Keheliya Rambukwella and five of his family members in the Colombo High Court on 26th June 2025 under charges of money laundering.
Accordingly,
1. Former Media and Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella,
2. Kusum Priyadarshanie Epa Weihena,
3. Chamithri Jayanika Rambukwella,
4. Chandula Ramali Rambukwella,
5. Amali Nayanika Rambukwella and
6. Isuru Pulasthi Bandara Polgasdeniya
were indicted by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption under Section 3(1)a and 3(2) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, No. 5 of 2006, amended by Act No. 40 of 2011, read with 112 of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 9 of 2023, on 43 charges (Rs. 94.6 million as Fixed Deposit accounts in a private bank and Life Insurance policies)
