Former Sri Lankan Airlines Chairman, Anthoney Nishantha Wickramasinghe, arrested over corruption allegations

On 27th June 2025, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested former Sri Lankan Airlines Chairman Anthoney Nishantha Wickramasinghe in connection with investigations into three corruption allegations.

The said allegations are,

1) Causing a loss of USD 4512 to the government by altering the destination of flight UL 319, which was scheduled to fly from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Katunayake on 22nd January 2014.
2.) Causing a loss of USD 19,160 to the government by disembarking 75 passengers who arrived from the Maldives to travel to France on flight UL563 on 26th January 2014.
3) Spending Rs. 1,250,000/- of public funds for the former President’s election campaign held at the 18th Post Stadium in Katunayake on 19th December 2014.
