Former Chairman of the Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation Ltd, Hussain Ahmed Bahila, was arrested by the Commission at around 8:30 a.m. on 31 October 2025 on allegations of corruption. He has imported 50 temporary storage units in 2015 without any genuine requirement for the corporation, and without following the proper procurement procedures required for the purchase of goods and services for the Corporation, and thereby caused a loss of Rs. 99,679,799.70 to the Corporation, i.e., to the Government and conferred an equivalent undue benefit upon an external party.
