Jayampathie Charitha Ratwatte, Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister during the period 2015-2018, was arrested by the Commission’s Investigation Officers on November 4, 2025. The arrest was made on charges of influencing officers of the Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation in the year 2015 to bypass the prescribed procurement procedures applicable to purchase goods and services by the Corporation and import 50 temporary grain storages from
a company introduced by him, despite having no actual requirement for such items, and thereby causing a loss of Rs. 99,679,799.70 to the Corporation (i.e., to the Government) and conferring an undue equivalent benefit as well upon an external party.
