A Development Officer and a driver from the Pesticides Registrar’s Office arrested over allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000/-.

Following a complaint lodged by a businessman from Bandarawela, a Development Officer and a driver attached to the Office of the Registrar of Pesticides, Peradeniya, were arrested around 1.30 p.m. on 3rd July 2025 on charges of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000. It was alleged that they solicited the bribe to cover fuel expenses for their vehicle, which was needed to visit the complainant’s residence in order to obtain samples of pesticides, fungicides, and plant hormones to register his business.
