The Acting Unit Manager- Nochchiyagama of Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority was arrested by the Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for soliciting and accepting a bribe.The arrest was made on 20.09.2023 following a complaint lodged by an individual in Nochchiyagama.

The suspect has solicited a bribe of Rs. 75,000/- (seventy-five thousand) in order to enter tname he complainant’s into the Land Survey Register to enable him to get the licence of the plot of land bearing number 417/6/260, belonged to his deceased father.

The arrest was made inside the Nochchiyagama Mahaweli Unit Management Office while accepting the solicited bribe of Rs. 75,000/- (seventy-five thousand).
