On 01st, 02nd and 03rd April, the Commission seized 12 more vehicles (on an order issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court) in relation to the ongoing investigation into malpractices associated with the registration of vehicles that had not undergone customs clearance by the Department of Motor Traffic. These vehicles include,

On 02nd April 2025, Colombo High Court No. 01 Judge Adithya Patabendige sentenced the former Chief Minister of the North Central Province S. M. Ranjith Samarakoon who committed the act of corruption in terms of Section 70 of the Bribery Act through malpractices in ordering fuel to his personal secretary’s vehicle while he was serving as the Chief Minister of the North Central Province.

At the invitation of the Ceylon Electricity Board, a Bribery and Corruption Programme was conducted for their officers on 18th March 2025. The programme was held in the auditorium of their Training Center at Piliyandala, and nearly 80 officers attended it.

At the invitation of the Department of Labour, a Bribery and Corruption Programme was conducted for their officers on 21st March 2025. The programme was held in the Department auditorium, and nearly 150 officers attended it.

CIABOC, in collaboration with SLT Mobitel PLC, conducts a series of Bribery and Corruption Prevention Programmes for SLT Mobitel PLC officers. One programme in this series was conducted on 4th March 2025 in the SLT Mobitel auditorium and was attended by 106 officers.

Based on two investigations conducted in relation to two complaints received by the Commission (accepting bribes of Rs. 200,000 and Rs. 150,000 pledging government jobs), the Investigation Officers of the Commission yesterday (26.03.2025) arrested the former Opposition Leader (United National Party) of Central Provincial Council Mr. Don Harindra Chanaka Ilapperuma. The arrest was made in Kandy at 9.15 a.m.

Parliamentarian Don Arthur Chamara Sampath Dassanayake was arrested at the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on 27th March 2025 in connection to the commission of acts of corruption by requesting sponsorships from three state banks for Provincial Council projects and crediting the funds into an account of a foundation operated in his name when he was the Chief Minister of Uva Province.

Bribery and corruption are spreading fast in the country like a virus, and combatting the menace has become a timely need. Accordingly, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, in collaboration with the Water Supply and Drainage Board, arranged a series of Prevention Programmes to create a country devoid of bribery and corruption, and one programme of the series was conducted on 27 th February 2025 at the Water Supply and Drainage Board premises, Kadawatha.

At the invitation of the Meerigama Pradeshiya Sabha, CIABOC conducted a Bribery and Corruption Prevention Programme for officers of the Pradeshiya Sabha on 19th March 2025. It was held in the Pradeshiya Sabha auditorium with the participation of about 70 officers.

An awareness programme on bribery and corruption was conducted for about 120 officers employed in System L of the Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority, i.e. Weli Oya. The programme, which was conducted on 21st March 2025, ended with high success. It was held in the Mahaweli Authority auditorium in Weli Oya.

CIABOC, in collaboration with SLT Mobitel PLC, arranged a series of Bribery and Corruption Prevention Programmes for SLT Mobitel officers and its final programme was conducted on 17th March 2025. It was held in the SLT Mobitel PLC auditorium and 112 officers attended the programme.

Another programme of the series of Bribery and Corruption Prevention Programmes, arranged jointly by CIABOC and SLT Mobitel PLC, was conducted on 07th March 2025. It was held in the SLT Mobitel PLC auditorium and about 140 officers attended the programme.
