Sentencing was imposed on Madumuruththuwage Rattharanage Rupasinghe, a sanitary labourer of Kuliyapitiya Hospital, for charges levelled against him under Case Number MCB-8455/01/2014 for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 2000/- from the complainant.

Accordingly, the Preceding Judge of Colombo Chief Magistrate Court No (1) Prasanna Alwis delivered the judgment on 31.01.2025 and convicted the accused on two charges. Further, the accused was sentenced to 18 months of rigorous imprisonment for each charge. In addition, a fine of Rs. 5,000/- was ordered for each count.
