Based on two investigations conducted in relation to two complaints received by the Commission (accepting bribes of Rs. 200,000 and Rs. 150,000 pledging government jobs), the Investigation Officers of the Commission yesterday (26.03.2025) arrested the former Opposition Leader (United National Party) of Central Provincial Council Mr. Don Harindra Chanaka Ilapperuma. The arrest was made in Kandy at 9.15 a.m.

The suspect was produced before the Kandy Magistrate’s Court and was ordered to remand in custody until 08th March 2025 and is to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court on the same day.
