Former State Minister of Environment and Trade Sathasivam Viyalenderan arrested on allegations of abetting the solicitation and acceptance of a bribe of Rs. 1.5 million

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested Former Environment and Trade State Minister Sathasivam Viyalenderan yesterday (25.03.2025) on allegations of aiding and abetting two individuals to solicit a bribe of Rs. 2.0 million and accept Rs.1.5 million from an individual in exchange for making the necessary arrangements to issue him the requested Trade License.

The arrested suspect was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court and was remanded until 01st April 2025.
