Cancellation of recruitment to the post of Civil Investigation Officer

An open competitive examination and a structured interview were held on 27.10.2018 and 04.07.2019 respectively for the recruitment to the post of Civil Investigation Officer to exercise the powers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption Act, No. 19 of 1994. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation prevailed in the country at that time and the Cabinet decision taken to suppress 200 positions of Civil Investigation Officer, the recruitment had to be cancelled on the recommendations of the Committee to Review the Recruitment Process in the Public Service.

Since the Anti-Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023 is come in force from 15 September 2023, new recruitments should be made under Section 26 of the said Act. Therefore, as per the order of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, the recruitment for the post of Civil Investigation Officer, which was approved to be recruited under the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption Act, No. 19 of 1994, cannot be done due to a legal impediment currently exists.
