Based on a complaint made by a resident in Elpitiya, officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested two Police Officers (Sergeant and a Constable) of Kottawa Police Station and a resident of Homagama approximately between 7.25 -8.35 p.m. on 08.05.2024.

The Police, having taken the complainant’s motor bicycle into their custody has told that he will be sued alleging of drug trafficking using the motor bicycle, and solicited three hundred thousand rupees as bribe for halting such legal action and to return the motor bicycle. Initially, they have accepted Rs. 70,000/-. The arrest was made near the Kottawa Junction while accepting another Rs. 200,000/- of the solicited amount.
