A suspect in a rape case wanted a police constable in Wellawaya police station to substitute a blood sample that is scheduled to be sent to the government analyst for a DNA test.

The sample was to be sent to a government analyst to test the paternity of the child who was born as a result of the said rape incident.

This suspect had previously given his blood sample to a judicial medical officer who in turn gave it to the police to be sent to the government analyst.

The suspect was arrested today by the CIABOC while he was giving the bribe in the Monaragala High Court premises.
