On a complaint received by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, an Inspector of Police assigned to the Police Station, Sapugaskanda was arrested on 02.06.2023 by the Investigation Officers of CIABOC for an alleged solicitation and acceptance of a bribe of Rs.100,000.
The suspect was arrested while accepting the solicited bribe of Rs.100,000/- from the Managing Director of Arogya Beauty Herbal Foot Spa, who is also the complainant here. The bribe was taken for the purpose of allowing him to carry out the businesses of the Spa without any interference and also to prevent any legal action being taken against the Spa in the future, and has told that it will be done through an Inspector of Police at Police Station, Kadawatha. The suspect was thus arrested in front of Sri Lanka Telecom, Ragama-Kadawatha road, when accepting the bribe.
