Assistant Driving Instructor arrested on allegations of accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000/-

Based on a complaint made by a resident of Kiriwattuduwa, Homagama, Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested an Assistant Driving Instructor of a driving school in Boralesgamuwa for soliciting and accepting Rs. 5,000/- as a bribe. According to the complainant, it was solicited to expedite the processing of his permanent driving license for the temporary heavy vehicle license the Department of Motor Traffic issued him. The suspect was arrested at 4.25 p.m. on 03.09.2024 inside the driving school office he is running in Boralesgamuwa.

The suspect was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court and was ordered to remand until 13 September 2024.
