A suspended Beat Forest Officer arrested for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000/-

The Investigation Officers of CIABOC have arrested a currently suspended Beat Forest Officer attached to the Department of Forest Conservation on an alleged solicitation and acceptance of a bribe of Rs15,000/- on 21.12.2022 in accordance with a complaint received by the Commission.

The suspect while pretending as the officer in charge for Kalmunai area of the Department of Forest Conservation solicited a bribe of Rs.15,000/- to abstain from taking legal action regarding the transportation of timber without permits and thus arrested when accepting the bribe at the Jarina Tire Mart, No.298, Kalmunai.
