The new Anti-Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023 has widened the scope of bribery and corruption covering private-sector entities, companies and corporations. Accordingly, the first awareness raising programme for private sector companies and corporations was held on 22.03.2024 at Hotel Movenpick. Corporate Management Consultants organized the programme.
Commissioner of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, Additional Solicitor General and PC, Mr. Chethiya Goonasekara, Mrs. D. I. Rajapaksha (Additional Director General) and Mrs. Udari Kumarihami (Assistant Director -Legal) provided resource contribution for the programme. The programme covered the scope of the new Act and the legal obligation and responsibility for private-sector entities, companies, corporations and listed companies in formulating anti-corruption policies. It also focused on facts that have to be considered while formulating policies on Gift Rules and Conflicts of Interest.
Further, the possibility for the private-sector entities, companies and corporations to obtain the support of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption when formulating anti-corruption for their institutions was also emphasized here.
