Colombo High Court Judge Damith Thotawatta sentenced a civil person in Sulthanagoda on 01.04.2024 after he pleaded guilty to the charge in case HCB 226/2023. The case was filed against him by the Commission for offering a bribe of Rs. 15,000/-.

Accordingly, the learned Judge imposed a two-year rigorous imprisonment and suspended it for 07 years. The learned Judge also ordered a fine of Rs. 5,000/- and a 2-month simple imprisonment if fails to pay the fine. The Learned Judge further ordered to credit the production of Rs. 15,000/- to the Consolidated Fund.
