On a complaint made by a person in Avissawella, Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption have arrested the Acting Secretary and Revenue Inspector of Avissawella Urban Council on 23.06.2023.

The complainant has requested to expedite the ownership transferring of the shop space, No. A/09 – East, in the New Shopping Complex at the Bus Stand to his business partner and later its inheritance to him. The suspects have solicited a bribe of Rs.400,000/- for the purpose and were arrested at the Urban Council while accepting the said bribe.
