Former Sports Supervisor attached to the head office of Sri Lanka Transport Board was arrested by the Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs.80,000/-. The arrest was taken place on 05.10.2023 on a complaint received by the CIABOC.
The suspect has initially solicited and accepted Rs.50,000/- as a bribe in December 2022 from the complainant promising to offer him a job as a Conductor at Sri Lanka Transport Board. Subsequently, the suspect has promised to offer jobs to complainant’s brother and another person as Conductor and has solicited Rs. 75,000/- from each of them. He has initially accepted Rs. 35,000/- from each of them and was arrested at Borella Bus Stand when accepting the remaining amount of Rs.80,000/-.
