CIABOC Prevention Unit Empowers Ceylon Electricity Board Against Corruption

In a proactive move against corruption, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption’s (CIABOC) Prevention Unit conducted a prevention program for Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Electricity Superintendents. Held on February 15th, 2024, at the Dehiwala Regional Center auditorium, the program aimed to equip CEB personnel with prevention strategies aligned with the newly enacted No. 09 of 2023 Anti-Corruption Act.

As the primary energy provider in Sri Lanka, CEB plays a crucial role in addressing the nation's energy needs. The Electricity Superintendents, responsible for regional operations and direct customer services, require a deep understanding of preventive measures, particularly under the No. 09 of 2023 Anti-Corruption Act, to effectively manage operations and mitigate risks.

Key participants from CEB included Mr.Dammika Thanthirimalage (Additional General Manager), Mr. Noyel Priyantha (Deputy General Manager), and Ms. Udari Perera (Engineer and Electrical Superintendent). CIABOC's Prevention Unit officers, including Mr.Sampath Arachchige, Ms. Ishani Wijesooriya, and Mr. Shilamega Welithotage, provided valuable insights and guidance during the program, emphasizing preemptive and monitoring actions to prevent corruption escalation.
