Officer-in-Charge of the Environmental Division at Police Station, Maradana was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs.10000/-

On a complaint made by a person in Dambadeniya Area, Investigation Officers of CIABOC arrested the Officer-in-Charge (Sub Inspector) of the Environmental Division, Police Station, Maradana on 20.07.2023 for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs.10000/-.

The suspect has demanded the said bribe for giving evidence in favor of the Complainant for a case filed demanding compensation for an accident, in addition to the travelling expense of Rs.2000/- he could claim. He was arrested near the District Court, Kuliyapitiya while accepting the said bribe.
