Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested a Sub Inspector attached to Kalmunai Headquarters Police Station on 22.11.2023 on allegations of accepting sexual bribe.

The Chairman of the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) and two accomplices were arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption on 10.11.2023.

On a complaint made by a person in Siyambalanduwa, Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested a Beat Forest Officer of Morana Beat Forest Office, Department of Wildlife Conservation on 09.11.2023 while accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000/-.

Former Sports Supervisor attached to the head office of Sri Lanka Transport Board was arrested by the Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs.80,000/-. The arrest was taken place on 05.10.2023 on a complaint received by the CIABOC.

The Acting Unit Manager- Nochchiyagama of Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority was arrested by the Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for soliciting and accepting a bribe.The arrest was made on 20.09.2023 following a complaint lodged by an individual in Nochchiyagama.

The Officers of CIABOC have arrested the Colony Officer of Divisional Secretariat, Padaviya on 25.08.2023. The complainant who is a resident of Padaviya Sri Pura area and owns a Swarnabhumi deed of Divisional Secretariat, Padaviya. The suspect has solicited a bribe to make the necessary arrangements to transfer the said deed to a complainant’s relative and was arrested at the Colony Officer’s Office, Padaviya, Sri Pura when accepting a bribe of Rs.25,000/-.

On a complaint made to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, Investigation Officers of CIABOC have arrested a Technical Officer serves at the Divisional Engineers Office, Mathugama on 25.08.2023 for accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000/-.

The complainant, a conductor of Diyasenpura sub-depot, was given a charge sheet for issuing summary ticktes to passengers, and the suspect has initially demanded and accepted Rs. 20,000.00 from him as a bribe in order to get the support of higher officials at the disciplinary inquiry and conduct it in a manner that favours him and give a softer punishment. The arrest was made along the Hingurakgoda-Medirigiriya road near Diwulankadawala area while soliciting another Rs. 60,000.00.

On a complaint received by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested a Police Constable and a Police Sergeant attached to Teldeniya Division Crime Investigation Unit on 22.08.2023 for allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe.
The suspects have demanded Rs. 10,000 from the complainant in order to abstain from taking legal action against him for the offense of transporting illicit liquor, kasippu in his three-wheeler, and to allow him sell kasippu without any disturbance thereafter. The suspects have initially taken Rs. 5,000/- from the complainant and was arrested in front of Dhana Nandana Timer Mill, Digana while accepting the remaining Rs. 5,000/-.

On a complaint made by a person in Dambadeniya Area, Investigation Officers of CIABOC arrested the Officer-in-Charge (Sub Inspector) of the Environmental Division, Police Station, Maradana on 20.07.2023 for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs.10000/-.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has served an indictment at the High Court, Colombo today, against Piyath Bandu Wikrama Muni, former Chairman, R.B. Sanjaya Kumara, former Container Operation Machine Equipment Operator, and R.C.W.M. Nihal Keppetipola, former Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

On a complaint made by a person in Avissawella, Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption have arrested the Acting Secretary and Revenue Inspector of Avissawella Urban Council on 23.06.2023.
