One-day Training Programme for Integrity Officers - Sabaragamuwa Province

A series of training programmes are being conducted with high success covering all 09 provinces to train the Integrity Officers appointed under the National Action Plan for Combatting Bribery and Corruption in Sri Lanka, formulated with the vision of elevating Sri Lanka to greatness by creating a generation endowed with pride and integrity. Six provinces have already been covered, and the seventh programme, conducted on 23.01.2024, covered the Sabaragamuwa province.



The workshop was conducted with the support of the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government and was funded by the JURE project of UNDP. The training was held at Hotel Grand Guardian, Ratnapura and continued from 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Approximately 100 Integrity Officers appointed for District Secretariats and Divisional Secretariats in Ratnapura and Kegalle districts, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Secretariat and Local Government institutions attended the training.


The training commenced under the chair of Mrs. Mayuri Udawela, Deputy Director General -CIABOC, and resource persons from different institutions contributed by delivering lectures. Accordingly, Ms. Buddhi Tharanga Karunasena, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government, covered “The responsibility of state institutions and public officers towards a clean public service -from an Integrity Officer’s perspective” and Ms. Thanuja Bandara, Assistant Director General – CIABOC delivered her lecture on “The National Action Plan for Combatting Bribery and Corruption in Sri Lanka and available legal provisions”. Attorney-at-Law Mr. Jagath Liyanarachchi addressed “The role of an Integrity Officer” while Mr. Tharindu Dananjaya Weerasinghe, Senior Lecturer from the University of Kelaniya, touched the topic “ Towards integrity and excellence in the public service through positive thinking and best practices”. Prevention Officer, Ms. Vimukthi Jayasuriya, compered the session while other officers of the Prevention Unit, Rushanthi Dilshani, Shammi Srilal, Chamodi Jayasinghe, Ishani Wijesuriya, Shilamegha Welithotage, Madhika Ruwanthi and Udeshika Jayasekara contributed in the coordination.
