CIABOC Conducts Integrity Education Program at Ocean University

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has recognized enhancing integrity-related education and reaching out to the younger generation as key factors in strengthening the long-term fight against corruption. Following this principle, CIABOC's Prevention Unit conducted a program for Ocean University's academic and non-academic staff on October 3, 2024.

Ocean University, the sole institution providing education on marine safety measures and oceanic research, hosted the event. The program emphasized the importance of integrity as a crucial factor for qualitative advancement in any field. Both academic and non-academic staff, along with students from Ocean University, participated in the workshop.

The full-day program covered valuable preventive concepts related to academic and non-academic issues. Notable participants from Ocean University included: Dr. W.A.A.D. Lanka Wickramasinghe, Dean, Faculty of Aquaculture and Seafood Technology.Ms. Shamali Rathnasri, Lecturer, Department of Coastal and Marine Resources Management.

The workshop was conducted by CIABOC Prevention Unit officers: Mr.Sampath Arachchige and Mr.Shilamega Welithotage.

This initiative by CIABOC aims to raise awareness about the importance of combating bribery and corruption, particularly among young professionals in specialized fields such as marine studies and ocean research.
