SLTB Conducts Anti-Corruption Awareness Session for Executive Officers

The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) hosted its inaugural anti-corruption awareness session as part of a new educational initiative at its headquarters in Colombo. The event, held on March 4, aimed to educate executive officers of the state-owned transportation provider on ethical governance.

The session featured presentations by Corruption Prevention Officers Sampath Arachchige and Shilamega Walithotage from Sri Lanka’s Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). Their lectures focused on corruption prevention strategies, legal frameworks, and case studies related to bribery and misconduct.

Established in 1958 under the Ceylon Transport Board Act, the SLTB (originally named Ceylon Transport Board, CTB) is a key public enterprise providing nationwide transportation services. Renamed in 1979, the SLTB prioritizes accessible and affordable transit for all citizens, including subsidized services for low-income communities.

This workshop marks the launch of a broader anti-corruption campaign by the SLTB, highlighting its commitment to transparency and accountability in public service. All executive officers from the Colombo headquarters attended, reflecting institutional support for ethical reforms in the transport sector.
