A Field Instructor attached to the Land Commissioner General’s Office, Ampara was convicted by the Hon. High Court Judge Mr. Vikum Kaluarachchi on all charges leveled against the accused by CIABOC.
The charges were filed under Section 19(b) and 19(c) of the Bribery Act for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs.100,000/-. Accordingly, the Hon. Judge sentenced the convict for a term of 3 years rigorous imprisonment on all charges and imposed a fine of Rs.3500/- for each charge in lieu 10 months simple imprisonment to be served. Furthermore, a fine of Rs.100,000/- was imposed in lieu 2 years simple imprisonment to be served.
