“Towards a Nation of Integrity” - Experience and Knowledge Sharing Workshop on Combatting Bribery and Corruption with members of Civil Society Organizations

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, in partnership with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) conducted a workshop under the theme, “Towards a Nation of Integrity” to share knowledge and experiences with Civil Society Organizations.

The workshop was conducted on 21.10.2023 at The Kingsbury, Colombo and was attended by 50 Civil Society Organizations. Mrs. Sunethra Jayasinghe, Additional Director General of CIABOC welcomed the participants and briefed the objectives of the workshop, and Mr. Chandra Nimal Wakishta, Commissioner III of the Commission delivered the guest lecture on “Why should Civil Organizations and the Public Sector join hands to combat bribery and corruption?”. Next, Assistant Director Generals, Mrs, Anuththara Jayasinghe, Mrs. Thushari Dayaratne and Ms. Thanuja Bandara addressed the gathering on “New legal situations with regard to bribery and corruption”. Mr. Tharindu Jananjaya Weerasinghe next enlightened the gathering on, “Towards the integrity of service through positive thinking”, and Mr. Jagath Liyanarachchi, Attorney-at-Law, explained the “Role of the Civil Society Organizations with regard to preventing bribery and corruption”. A discussion on “The future pathway of Civil Society Organizations and Commission to Investigate Bribery and Corruption with regard to preventing bribery and corruption” was held next and Mr. Sanjeewa Wimalagunaratne, Director General, National Secretariat for Non-Governmental Organizations chaired the session.
