Based on a complaint made by a person in Madiwela, Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption Commission arrested two businessmen of Maharagama and Gothatuwa area on allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 9 million. According to the complainant, the bribe was in exchange for expediting the compensation with regard to the land in Torrington Avenue which the Urban Development Authority acquired from the complainant’s aunt. The arrest was made at around 3.08 p.m. on 27.12.2024 in front of a shop in Pita Kotte.
