Public Sector Prevention Unit of CIABOC organized two programs for public servants of Mannar & Jaffna districts, regarding the eradication of Bribery & Corruption.
One program was held on 2019.09.05 at the auditorium of Mannar District Secretariat Office. Nearly 110 public servants such as Divisional Secretaries, Assistant Divisional Secretaries, Accountants, Development Officers, Grama Niladaries, Land Officers, Land Officers, Labour Officers and Samurdi Officers participated for the program. In this program, Mannar - Additional District Secretary : Mr Gunapalan delivered a speech about Bribery & Corruption in the public sector.

A Field Instructor attached to the Land Commissioner General’s Office, Ampara was convicted by the Hon. High Court Judge Mr. Vikum Kaluarachchi on all charges leveled against the accused by CIABOC.

10th to 12th August 2019 had a residential workshop for prosecutors in CIABOC at Waskaduwa Citrus Hotel .President of the Court of Appeal, President's Counsel , Hon. Justice Mr.Yasantha Kodagoda, Additional Solicitor General , President's Counsel Ms.Ayesha Jinasena and Deputy Solicitor General Mr.Thusith Mudalige were participated as resource persons.From CIABOC Commissioner Justice W Lal Ranjith Silva , President's Counsel Mr. Sarath Jayamanne Director General - CIABOC and CIABOC Prosecutors were participated.

Residential Training Programme for the Trainers Organized by the CIABOC with the support of the Presidential Secretariat & the Ministry of Public Administration was held on August 23-25 at Heritance – Negombo

Having received a complaint to the Bribery Commission by late Mr. Anura Bandaranayake, Bribery Commission conducted investigation and file action in the Court of Law accusing then Acting General Manager Mr. Wimal Perera of CWE (Sathosa) for the offence of Corruption.

A Grama Nildari who has solicited and accepted Rs.450000 of bribe from a civilian has been convicted and sentenced for 2 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.10,000.00

Prevention awareness to 90 Principals of Zonal Education Office Walassmulla conducted by Manodhi Hewawasam Assistant Director Legal Gayan Maduwa Assistant Director Legal Waidyarathna and Harsha Madushanka Investigation Officers.

A former Police Sergeant, R.M Jayasena attached to the Police Station – Kahawaththa was convicted by the Colombo High Court Judge Mr. Pradeep Hettiarachchi on 23.07.2019 for all four counts of the indictment served by the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The Colombo High Court convicted a Judicial Management Assistant attached to the District/Magistrate Court Puttalam for accepting a bribe of Rs.4500/-.
Accordingly, the High Court Judge Mr. Gihan Kulathunge sentenced the accused for 10 years rigorous imprisonment, a fine of Rs. 10000/- and a penalty of Rs.4500/-. In defaulting one year imprisonment.

The officers of the CIABOC have arrested a Police Constable in Borella Police Station on 21.07.2019 when accepting a bribe of Rs.2000/- to return the belongings of the complainant taken by the Police and to abstain from taking legal action against an incident of an assault.

The officers of the CIABOC have arrested a Police Constable attached to the Vilgamuwa Police Station when accepting a bribe of Rs.50, 000/- to conduct an investigation on a complaint made in respect of loss of a power generator and to arrest the suspects.
