One-day training for Integrity Officers – Southern Province 2024: Implementation of the National Action Plan for Combatting Bribery and Corruption in Sri Lanka

The one-day training for Integrity Officers in the Southern Province, which the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption conducted with the support of the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government and sponsorship of the JURE project and funding of the European Union and UNDP, concluded successfully on 18th May 2024 at Hotel Citrus, Hikkaduwa. The training was conducted under the theme, “Towards a Country of Integrity” envisioned in the National Action Plan for Combatting Bribery or Corruption in Sri Lanka.

Hundred and fifty Integrity Officers/Facilitation Officers appointed by the Divisional Secretariats, Pradeshiya Sabhas, Municipal Councils and Urban Councils as well as Ministries and Departments in Galle, Matara and Hambantota districts attended the training.

Mrs. M.Y.R.K. Udawela (Additional Director General-CIABOC) delivered the welcome speech and briefed the programme objectives. Expert resource persons in the field, Mr. Mahesh Gammanpila-Additional Secretary (Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government), Mr. Tharindu Dananjaya Weerasinghe- Senior Lecturer (University of Kelaniya) and Ms. Thanuja Bandara- Assistant Director General (CIABOC) delivered insightful lectures on legal provisions for combatting bribery and corruption and strengthening integrity and stability of the public sector.
