The Colombo High Court convicted a Police Constable attached to the Police Station, Uppuveli, Trincomalee on accepting a bribe of Rs.3000/-.
Accordingly, the Colombo High Court Judge, Mr. Vikum Kaluarachchi, sentenced 4 years rigorous imprisonment for both counts and imposed a fine of Rs.5000/- (Rs.2500/- for each count).
In addition to above, court imposed Rs.3000/- as a penalty which the amount that the accused received as a bribe.
