A former Police Sergeant, K. K. Budhadasa attached to the Police Station – Sewanagala 10th Mile Post was convicted by the Colombo High Court Judge Hon. Mr. A. K. M. Patabendhige on 12.12.2019 for all four counts of the indictment served by the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
The accused was sentenced for 4 years rigorous imprisonment for two count of the indictment and to run concurrently. Furthermore, a fine of Rs. 10000 /- was imposed as Rs.2500/- for each count, 06 months rigorous imprisonment in default of fine with another penalty of Rs.6000/- was imposed under the section 26 of the Bribery Act. 01-year rigorous imprisonment was sentenced in default of fines. The prosecution was led by Mr. Saldeen Mohammed Sabry, Assistant Director (Legal) of the CIABOC.
