JURE – Justice Reform Program: Strengthening the Fight Against Corruption and Empowering Government Officials

“Residential Training Program for Trainers in the Western Province”

In a determined effort to combat corruption, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption collaborated with partners UNDP, the European Union, the UNICEF under the JURE project – the Justice Reform Program. This initiative launched a year-long program targeting 400 officers. The “Residential Training Program for Trainers in the Western Province” marked a significant stride in this journey.

With the participation of 57 dedicated government executive officers in a single session, this initiative aims to equip participants with essential tools to implement the National Action Plan for Combating Bribery and Corruption. The training, hosted at the Tangerine Beach Hotel in Kalutara, focuses on attitude development, practical skills, and effective communication.

Distinguished guest speakers at the event included Mr. Chandra Nimal Wakishta - Commissioner III of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, Mrs. Ranjani Senevirathne - Deputy Director General, Miss. Tanuja Bandara and Mrs. Subashini Siriwardane both experienced lawyers and esteemed commission members, enriched the participants with their valuable insights.

Esteemed experts, including Mr. K. D. N. Ranjith Asoka, Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mrs. Chandima Wickramasinghe, Mr. Tharindu Weerasinghe, Mr. Jagath Liyana Arachchi, Mr. Malika Amarasekara alongside corruption prevention officers and IT officer, played a crucial role in organizing and planning the session, enriching the training with their invaluable insights.

This event symbolizes a broader mission that aligns seamlessly with the National Action Plan’s Objectives, setting the stage for a more ethical and accountable future within Sri Lanka’s government sector, while advancing the goals of the JURE – Support Justice Sector Project. Recognition certificates for the participants were bestowed by the revered member of the Commission, Mrs. Deepali Wijesundara.
