CIABOC takes six illegally registered luxury vehicles that had not undergone Customs clearance into its custody

After submissions having been made to the Court by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption regarding the information it has received on nearly 400 vehicles that had not undergone Customs clearance registered at the Department of Motor Traffic by illegally entering them into their database, the Court ordered the Commissioner General of Department of Motor Traffic to hold the transfer of 168 vehicles out of them.

The Commission took six (06) out of the ordered 168 vehicles into its custody on 05.06.2024 and 06.06.2024 from their present owners.

The six vehicles alone have caused approximately Rs. 10 million loss to the government, and the CIABOC is to complete its investigations soon and initiate legal proceedings against the suspects.
