Investigations on vehicles fraudulently registered by the Department of Motor Traffic moves forward with better efficiency

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption is currently investigating the illegal vehicle registration process practised at the Department of Motor Traffic for vehicles that have not obtained Customs clearance, causing the loss of Customs Duty to the government.

Accordingly, the Colombo Chief Magistrate, having considered the submission made by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption to obtain a data backup of imported vehicles maintained by the Sri Lanka Customs, today ordered the Director General of Sri Lanka Customs to assist the CIABOC officers get the data backup.

Accordingly, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption expects to use the relevant information to conduct the investigations more successfully.
