The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption takes action to freeze Fixed Deposit Accounts and Life Insurance Policies of former Health Minister Mr. Keheliya Rambukwella’s family members

Over suspicious transactions, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption took action on 27.06.2024 to issue freezing orders in relation to fixed deposits of Rs. 93.125 Mn in a private bank and life insurance policies belonging to former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella’s wife, three daughters and one son-in-law. The order was issued for 07 days.

Under the money laundering offence, the Commission took action in terms of Section 53(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023 to freeze 16 fixed deposit accounts and 03 life insurance policies. After reporting facts to the High Court, the Commission intends to get the freezing order extended and conduct further investigations.
