The Court informed that action would be taken to indict the principal witness of the bribery case HCB/112/2021, for giving contradictory evidence on material points. The case was filed against five Excise Officers of the Balangoda Excise Office.

The High Court Judge released the principal witness on a cash bail of Rs. 250,000/- and two surety bails of Rs. 2,500,000/- each. The Judge further stated, after the conclusion of the case which was heard on 29 August 2024, the Court is taking action to serve indictments against the principal witness in terms of Section 147 of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 09 of 2023 for uttering falsehood.
