A Biomedical Engineer of the Biomedical Unit Indicted for Committing an Act of Corruption and Causing a Loss to the Government in terms of Section 70 of the Bribery Act

Based on a complaint received, the Commission investigated an act of corruption in the Health Ministry tender for purchasing 35 operation theater lamps.

The investigation uncovered facts under Section 70 of the Bribery Act, No. 11 of 1954, against the Technical Evaluation Committee member Subasinghe Arachchige Janapriya Karunatilake, a Biomedical Engineer attached to the Biomedical Engineering Unit of the Health Ministry. Accordingly, on 01.10.2024, the Commission indicted the accused in the Colombo High Court.
