On 25th March 2022, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed a case in the Colombo High Court against an Administrative Grama Niladhari attached to Deraniyagala Divisional Secretariat for accepting a bribe from the complainant in exchange for issuing a license to transport timber, and the High Court Judge, accepting the preliminary objection raised by the defendant party, ordered to discharge the accused on 26th July 2023. The Commission preferred a revision application to the Court of Appeal against the said High Court order.

Taking the said revision application for argument, on 20th December 2024, the Court of Appeal ordered to dismiss the High Court judgement delivered to discharge the accused and directed the High Court Judge to retry the case. Assistant Directors (Legal), Mrs. Ishika Ranatunge and Mrs. Anusha Sammandapperuma appeared on behalf of the Bribery Commission, and Counsel Chan Godakumbura and Shawn Tisera appeared for the respondent.
