As per the Guidelines of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, Sri Lanka Customs Introduces an Online Portal on Legally Imported Vehicles

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption is investigating into the circulation of around 6000 illegally imported vehicles in the country and is taking legal action against identified vehicles. The Commission took such vehicles into their custody for investigations and later handed them over to Sri Lanka Customs for further investigations and to charge the customs duties and other relevant fees. The second or third owner faces immense difficulty in such situations.

As a remedy for this, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption issued guidelines to Sri Lanka Customs instructing them to introduce an online portal that provides details of legally imported vehicles to verify the legality of a vehicle before purchasing. This online portal was introduced in response to the Commission’s guidelines.

Any person interested in buying a vehicle can find out whether it is a legally imported vehicle by accessing this portal through the below link.
