Two more bank accounts of former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella suspended

In connection to an investigation conducted under the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 9 of 2023, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption issued a freezing order suspending a current account and a fixed deposit account (balance of the two accounts is approximately Rs. 20 million) belonging to former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella for 07 days starting from 17.12.2024. This order has been issued in terms of section 53(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 9 of 2023.

The Commission expects to extend the freezing order after presenting it to the court.

During the same investigation, action has been taken on a number of previous occasions to freeze several assets belonging to the former minister, his wife and relatives.
