Legal action instituted against the Chairman and the driver of Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha who solicited and accepted a bribe to approve the building plan and a lot plan

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption instituted legal action against the Chairman and the driver of Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha who solicited and accepted a bribe of Rs. 2 million from a resident of Uthuwankanda, Mawanella to grant approval of the Pradeshiya Sabha for the proposed building plan and lot plan.

The case was filed under case number HCB/357/2025 at the Colombo on 08.01.2025.
