The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption filed three corruption cases against former Minister of Civil Aviation Unnathi Piyankara Jayaratne.
Accordingly, the cases were filed in the Colombo High Court on 08.01.2025 and were as follows:
- Case number HCB/353/2025 – committing the offence of corruption by printing 3000 Vesak Cards through the Civil Aviation Authority and causing a loss of Rs. 128,520 to the Civil Aviation Authority.
- Case number HCB/354/2025 - committing the offence of corruption by influencing the officials of the Civil Aviation Authority to pay Rs. 360,000 to Vee Hena Farm (Pvt.) Ltd., Mahaweva and causing a loss equal to the said amount to the Civil Aviation Authority.
- Case number HCB/355/2025 - committing the offence of corruption by influencing the officials of the Civil Aviation Authority to credit Rs. 494,000 to a National Savings Bank Account operated at the Chilaw branch and thereby causing a loss equivalent to the said amount to the government.
