The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) as a part of its effort in combating corruption held a two day workshop on 12th and 13th of March, 2018 at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo. The workshop based on the theme “Asset Disclosure and Conflict of Interest as Measures to Enhance Integrity in the Public Sector” was a joint effort of CIABOC, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Stolen Assets Recovery Initiative (StAR), World Bank (WB).
The interaction and the brainstorming session attended by senior level officials of the key public institutions gave an insight to the essential amendments in line with the global experience on the Assets Disclosure Systems and the Verification Procedures. The workshop laid a basis for the amendments to be brought in to the country’s existing law on the subject, the Declaration of Assets and Liabilities Law, No.1 of 1975.
