As per the National Action Plan for Combatting Bribery and Corruption in Sri Lanka, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption conducts awareness programmes to raise awareness in the public sector. Accordingly, it conducts a series of awareness programmes for officers of the Department of Inland Revenue and one more programme of this series was conducted on 29th April at the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration.
Mr. Bernard Rajapakse - Commissioner (CIABOC), and Mr. W. M. R. Bandara - Senior Commissioner (IRD), delivered the guest lectures. During the one-day workshop, lectures were conducted on bribery and corruption law, the role of the Commission and its prevention process, role of a public officer in creating a culture of integrity within the public sector, and the real situation of Sri Lanka in the global context. Mr. Tharindu Dananjaya Weerasinghe (Senior Lecturer of the University of Kelaniya), Mrs. Ama Wijesinghe (Assistant Director-Legal -CIABOC) and Mr. Sampath Arachchige (Prevention Officer-CIABOC) provided the resource contribution.
The JURE project of UNDP sponsored the programme. Prevention Officers of the Commission, Mrs. Ishani Wijesuriya and Miss T. M. Nipuni Koshila Tennakon, assisted in compering.
